Nagano (RWH)  Takahiro Kitano was elected the new president of Japan’s sliding sports association on 11 April, replacing long-standing president Tsuguto Kitano. At the same time, the sport of skeleton was added to the official name of the association, which is now the Japanese Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Federation (JBLSF). 

“We would like to welcome Takahiro Kitano into the bobsleigh and skeleton family, and wish him all the best for his work in the federation”, said Ivo Ferriani, the Italian president of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation FIBT (Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing). “We all have wonderful memories of the great Winter Olympics in Nagano in 1998, and we look forward to continuing our excellent partnership with the Japanese federation.”
