Bath (RWH) Lord Clifton Wrottesley is new president of British Skeleton Association and Chairman of British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association, as the association announced. The 43-years-old replaces Bryn Vaile, who took the presidency in 2006. Vaile, Olympic Gold medalist 1988 in sailing in the Star class, had been part of the British Skeleton Committee since 2002. “I have always believed that organisations need to remain dynamic and evolve, and after six years of leadership I believed a new person should take the lead and take this highly success programme forward”, said Bryn Vaile. “I have really enjoyed seeing the sport grow and blossom, since 2006 winning an Gold Olympic medal, World Cups, World Championship, World Junior Championship successes and become Britain’s strongest winter sport. I wish Clifton, the Association and its athletes, staff and coaches every success in the future in the run up to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.” Lord Wrottesley represented Ireland in the sport of Skeleton at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, finishing fourth. He also competed in Bobsleigh and served as Chef de Mission for the Irish Winter Olympics team in 2006. |
