London (RWH) Bobsleigh athletes Mica McNeill and Jazmin Sawyers, who took silver for Britain in the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Igls, are Olympic torchbearers. The 18-year-old young talents are just two of 8,000 people selected to carry the flame on its 70-day journey through the UK to the Summer Games in London, where it will be used to light the cauldron in the Olympic Stadium on 27 July. Back-seat bobsledder Jazmin Sawyers carried the flame on a part of the way from Bolton to Liverpool on 31 May. “That was such an incredible experience! Streets filled with people coming together, absolutely amazing, that will stay with me forever,” she wrote on Twitter. Driver Mica McNeill takes her turn on 16 June. |
