Winner of Five Minot Daily News Reader’s Choice Awards
Living first for more than 110 years
The lenders, bankers, and support staff at First International Bank & Trust have a singular focus: making dreams come true for their clients, customers, and communities. Their focus has remained the same since 1910, when brothers Odin and Gerhard Stenehjem founded the bank to serve farmers in western North Dakota. It is now a multi-billion dollar, full-service financial institution serving customers at 28 different locations in three states.
Nationally recognized among the best
First International Bank & Trust was recently named among the top extraordinary banks in the United States by The Institute for Extraordinary Banking™. The bank took home the Institute’s highest and most exclusive honor, being inducted into the Hall of Fame, for exemplary commitment to community banking. These awards recognize the best of what community banks offer to our cities, towns, and nation: a genuine commitment to the success of the small businesses and local community they serve.
Focused on community first
“We believe in giving back to our communities and neighbors because if they’re healthy and thriving, so are we. That’s why as a bank, and as individuals we give our time and money,” says John Drady, Market President for Central North Dakota. Across their footprint, First International Bank & Trust donated millions of dollars to community and non-profit organizations, and our employees volunteered nearly 4,000 hours. In Minot, First International Bank & Trust and its employees continued giving back in big ways in 2019.
- $140,000 donated to Minot State Dome Renovation and seating
- $100,000 donated to the Magic Carpet fund to replace turf at Duane Carlson Stadium
- $20,000 gifted to Souris Valley United way through the bank’s annual employee donation
- Hundreds of hours volunteered at Minot Public Schools, Great Plains Food Bank, Companions for Children, and many other organizations that have a meaningful impact on Minot and surrounding communities
Another source of pride
Now, as 2020 is underway, First International Bank and Trust has been selected Best Bank and Best Place to Work, Best Customer Service, Best Insurance Agency, and Best Mortgage Company for the Minot Daily News' Reader's Choice Awards. John Drady, Market President for Central North Dakota, said employees are honored to be selected as a Reader's Choice winner.
“We always hold ourselves to a high standard when it comes to the communities we serve and the customers that honor us by giving us their business,” said Drady. “All of our employees take their responsibilities to our customers very seriously, so to receive this honor truly is a reflection on the great staff we have in Minot.”
