First International Bank & Trust is seeking an experienced Loan Associate to support our commercial lending team in West Fargo. This role plays a critical part in the end-to-end commercial loan process, partnering closely with Commercial Loan Officers, Credit Analysts, and Loan Operations to move complex transactions from application through closing and funding.

This position is best suited for candidates with prior commercial or business lending experience who are comfortable supporting loans with multiple entities, varied collateral, and detailed documentation requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support Commercial Loan Officers and Credit Analysts by entering and validating loan data for underwriting and documentation purposes.
• Assist with gathering, reviewing, and ordering collateral documentation related to commercial loans (e.g., UCCs, real estate, business assets).
• Coordinate closely with Loan Operations to prepare, review, and process commercial loan documentation.
• Manage loan closings and funding activities in accordance with approved loan terms.
• Ensure timely recording and perfection of liens and collateral.
• Process incoming documentation, manage ticklers, scan and maintain loan files, and generate follow-up correspondence for missing items.
• Serve as a point of contact for internal partners and clients regarding loan documentation and closing-related inquiries.
• Handle the most complex commercial loans with minimal assistance and provide guidance or mentoring to other Loan Associates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires two or more years of commercial or business lending support experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting commercial loans, including business entities, multiple guarantors, and varied collateral structures.
• Experience working with loan documentation, funding, lien perfection, and post-closing requirements.
• Ability to step into the role with minimal ramp-up and training, supporting an active commercial lending portfolio.
